Premature return to play can lead to a prolonged recovery, or worse. One of the most difficult but important concussion-related questions you'll have is, "When has my child's brain healed?" Make sure you receive guidance from a qualified medical professional who is experienced and trained in diagnosing and managing the return-to-play decision. Also, verify that they are 100% symptom-free before they resume any physical activity.

Lystedt Law Zackery Lystedt's story
WA State recently passed a sports-related concussion management law, called the Lystedt Law.  Named after Zackery Lystedt (see Feature Story) a middle school football player who suffered a catastrophic head injury during a game, this law requires athletes to be removed from play or practice if a concussion is suspected, and more.
