Zackery Lystedt Defies Odds, Walks at Graduation |
Teen inspired concussion laws
June 13, 2011- Zackery Lystedt, the teen who inspired Washington State's concussion law, graduated from Tahoma High School in Covington, WA, last Friday. Having spent much of the last five years in a wheelchair, he walked across the stage to accept his diploma.
Zackery suffered a brain injury during a junior high school football game at the age of 13. He was airlifted to a Seattle trauma center where doctors performed life-saving surgery. Zackery spent months in a coma, and has worked on his rehabilitation with his family by his side, for the last several years.
The NFL and Commissioner Roger Goodell have encouraged governors from all 50 states pass legislation similar to the Lystedt Law. Full story |
