Middle school soccer
player, 14, dies from injuries |
Feb 22, 2011- Joshua Walter, 14, a student at Kirby Middle School near Jacksonville, Florida died of a brain injury he sustained last Tuesday after colliding with another player during a soccer match. Both students were reported injured on February 15th, and Walter was flown to Shands Jacksonville Medical Center. According to news4jax.com "Ryan Colbert, Walter's pastor at Highlands Baptist Church, said Walter came out of the goalie box and was diving for the ball when the other player was attempting to make a last-minute shot. The player tried to jump over Walter to avoid hitting him, but his knee hit the back of Walter's head."
